All devices can have the Office 365, which increases flexibility and mobility
Verkís just renewed their Microsoft contract and instead of going the traditional Office way they are moving towards Office 365 and therefore the cloud environment. This will ease all upgrades and licensing of the devices that Verkís’s employees use and now the Office 365 can be installed on all devices such as laptops, tablets and mobiles. This enables easier work environment for the engineers and other employees.

The Challenge
Move all employees from classic Office environment to Office 365
Verkís works on engineering projects all around the world and therefore it is important that employees can access data wherever and whenever. Verkís’s headoffice is in Iceland but they also have foreign branch offices and subsidiaries in Norway, Greenland, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine and Chile. Communication between them needs to be effortless and files should easily be accessed and collaborated with.
“The challenge in implementing Office 365 is that you need to integrate all the users to the cloud and it takes effort to make everything work smoothly. Also you need to reinstall Office clients on all employees’ computers and devices”, says Mr. Gunnarsson.
In doing so Verkís decided to work with Opin kerfi as they have strong technicians in Microsoft solutions. “It is highly important for a company such as ours to have good service, and work with professionals and Opin kerfi provides that”, says Mr. Gunnarsson.
Solution
Hybrid environment makes upgrades and maintenance run smoothly
Roughly 320 employees work at Verkís and when implementing the Office 365 application will be installed all on the devices from laptops to mobile phones. The employees are used to work in the Office environment so it will not be difficult for them to move into Office 365.
Verkís will be in a hybrid environment when the implementation is finished so that upgrades and maintenance will run smoothly throughout the company.

Verkís looks forward to implementing Office 365 on every device so that employees can easily access files all around the world. This is essential for engineering companies such as Verkís that have offices and projects worldwide.
Verkís also sees the benefits of moving to Office 365 as it will lower cost in regards to licensing and file storage. “In implementing Office 365 we expect issues in regards to running the main service will decrease as it will be in the cloud environment and more space will be available on servers. With Office 365 we also have the opportunity to implement Office on more devices, such as portable devices as laptops, mobile and tables, within the same licence module, which we believe is a good benefit”, says Mr. Gunnarsson.
